May 2011

Iowa Troop Pantry had a boxing event at Muscatine High School. The students organized the donation drive and then everyone worked together packing the boxes. I was unable to make this event but Joe and I did our part by getting these to the post office. We sent out approx 70! Just to get these mailed takes about 3 to 4 hours....the address labels have to be filled out, custom sheets and then the postman has to weigh and label each box, all while helping the other customers. The Coralville Post Office has been incredible in their support of us bringing massive amounts of boxes to be mailed. They always help us with big smiles, as we send smiles across the ocean to the troops! While filling out the paperwork, a man stopped and asked what we were doing...we explained and he got out his wallet and gave us $20.00 for a donation!!! Very thoughtful of him!! Paying it forward!
