Iowa-Iowa State ROTC Ball Run for Troop Pantry

Every year when Iowa and Iowa State play their rival football game, they have a "ball run". The game ball is run from one side of the state to the other by ROTC members. This year it came from Ames, Iowa to Iowa City. The half way point is in Tama, Iowa where the local people have a bbq for them and they exchange the ball and head to the stadium. This year I thought it would be a great idea to challenage them to another contest... with some help from their LT Col, we set up the 2 schools to donate items for Iowa Troop Pantry. They brought their items to the bbq and then helped LeAnn and I load them up to take back to Iowa City to make boxes for the soldiers. The Cadets had a great time supporting fellow soldiers...the best comment I heard all day came from one young man...he said, "One day, that is going to be us needing packages, we are happy to help out". Wow! That says it all!
